Company History
Jaydee (Jay) Miller started Pyromet in a Chester, Pennsylvania garage in 1969. Jay developed a patented process for purifying silver. The patent expired, but the process is so good, many silver refiners continue to use this method. As time went by, the price of silver increased and environmental regulations were passed. Consequently, silver recovery became more profitable, while also helping environmental compliance. Pyromet thrived and grew without any advertising or marketing. New customers were added because of word-of -mouth testimonials to the trustworthy and reliable reputation Pyromet had earned in the industry.
Pyromet relocated to Aston, Pennsylvania in January 1983 to a then 12,000 sq. ft. building, which has been expanded to 23,000 sq. ft. over the last 6 years.
In 1996, after 27 years of dedicated service to Pyromet, Jay decided to retire. He sold Pyromet to some of his long-term employees. The new management team aggressively expanded Pyromet's services and started to service customers throughout the United States. Pyromet now supplies products and refines silver for customers all over the world.
In 1998, Pyromet formed Sun Valley Film Wash to provide film recycling services. All of the film is washed with non-toxic enzyme solution, and the silver residues are refined to pure silver and fabricated into the various products, which we manufacture.
